BIPH: A Message to Parents

With the support of Dr. Jaramillo and dorm parents, BIPH clothing donation was launched on April 16th, Tuesday. The BIPH clothing donation team is actively encouraging more students to donate old clothes (esp. old and outgrown school uniforms), collectively taking a step forward in fighting climate change while supporting underdeveloped areas by giving used garments a second life in poor communities.
在 Dr.Jaramillo和宿管老师们的支持下，BIPH 衣物捐赠活动于 4 月 16 日星期二启动。BIPH衣物捐赠团队正在积极鼓励更多的学生捐赠旧衣服，共同在应对全球气候变化方面向前迈出渺小却有意义的一步，同时通过让旧的衣服在贫困社区中获得新生从而支持经济欠发达地区。
We will be donating the clothes to Mayi, a clothing recycling platform (www.fmy90.com/feimayi/index_clothing-recycling.html). We hope by redistributing our old clothes to these communities, our garments waste can be transformed into useful clothing for others in need. In this process, wealth disparity would be mitigated, lives in such communities improved, and the lifespan of clothes extended. Producing a single cotton T-shirt consumes 3,000 liters of water and emits 11 kilograms of CO2. Each clothing item your kid(s) donate to us means 3,000 liters of water saved for those suffering from intense droughts and climate change. This might as well be your kid’s first step – however small but concrete, subtle but substantive – in fighting climate change and wealth inequality as an active, informed global citizen.

Containers for clothing collection are placed on A building B1 and in the boy’s and girl’s dorm buildings. The volunteers will regularly sort, categorize and pack up the clothes. We welcome all students to participate in this activity, donating old clothes and helping needy people. There is no limit to the types or qualities of the clothes donated, and school uniforms are also accepted. Please wash the clothes before you donate them. The deadline for clothing donation is April 26th.
用于收集衣物的驿站放置在男生和女生宿舍楼内以及A栋负一楼。志愿者们会定期对衣服进行分拣、归类和打包。我们欢迎所有学生参加这项活动，捐赠旧衣服，帮助有需要的人。请务必在捐赠前将旧衣物清洗干净。对于捐赠衣服的类型或质量并没有严格限制，校服也包括在内。衣物捐赠活动截止日期为4月26日。
